Hula Communications offers a unique approach to conventional agency-driven public relations. This small, creativity-driven firm specializes in media relations, crisis communications, community relations and content creation within the travel/tourism, mountain resort, wellness, recreation and real estate industries.
The Hula Communications difference lies with Principal Emily McCormack. Emily handles each account personally, meaning each client benefits directly from her knowledge and experience. Hula delivers in the value category as well, with each client’s strategy transforming seamlessly and immediately into the execution phase. With over 20 years of professional experience, Emily brings a valuable skill-set to each project, and emphasizes an integrated approach.
Founded in the fall of 2005, Hula embraces a philosophy based upon contracting only one client within a specific industry or comp set. Thanks to this approach you can feel confident knowing there is no internal competition for the best, most creative ideas, and that your project, product or story is receiving total focus and attention from a senior-level professional.
Emily brings over 20 years of experience in marketing communications and public relations to clients through her independent agency Hula Communications. Her strengths include trend-based message development, identifying and securing strategic partnerships and industry alliances, and building and nurturing relationships with key journalists.
In 2012, Emily also co-created UB.U, an Eagle River Valley-based program that delivers brain health education, social-emotional wellness and tools for resilience to parents, teachers and students. Emily credits her growing interest in emotional and mental health to her years of practicing yoga, breath work and meditation. Through her experience teaching mindfulness-based self awareness, attention and resilience skills through UB.U, Emily has a strong understanding of and passion for personal wellness.
Prior to opening two small businesses, Emily led PR efforts for several known brands in the travel/tourism, hospitality and real estate industries, including Vail Cascade Resort & Spa (now Grand Hyatt Vail), Breckenridge Ski Resort, Beaver Creek Resort, the Vail Valley Tourism & Convention Bureau (now the Vail Valley Partnership), Beacon Hill Investments and Writer Homes.
Emily’s mountain lifestyle includes hiking, standup paddleboarding, whitewater rafting and alpine skiing with her husband Mike, sons Jacob and Tavish, and dogs Lola and Avie. Emily also enjoys yoga, running, gardening, reading and traveling near and far, especially to watch her sons play hockey and lacrosse.
Emily graduated from Arizona State University in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts in communications and an emphasis in marketing.
